Willow Residence

Hoboken, NJ, 2024

A modest renovation of a Hoboken apartment focused on resolving inherited irregularities and improving light and flow. The layout remained largely intact, but new millwork was introduced to bring order to a space previously marked by misaligned walls and poorly coordinated services.

Custom millwork was used to resolve dimensional inconsistencies, bringing clarity and alignment to walls that previously felt fragmented. New white oak flooring and a neutral palette lighten the interior, with tone and texture introduced through wood-grain cabinetry, slatted joinery, and veined stone surfaces.

Shaker frame detailing served as a reference point but was reinterpreted—cabinet frames were refined, and appliances integrated for a quieter reading of the space. In the living area, the same language reappears as vertical slats, linking spaces while shifting in tone.

Contrast is introduced through texture rather than color—veined marble, wood grain, and vertical lines offer variation within a restrained composition, bringing depth to a compact interior.
